CANOE TRIPS & EXPEDITIONS

Steve has been running self-sufficient canoe expeditions for twenty years, providing many memorable experiences en route. He runs an annual trip to Assynt in NW Scotland and offers longer adventurous expeditions in Canada; most recently a two week journey down the Nahanni River in NW Territories. Steve is also putting on an exciting new trip to the Outer Hebrides in 2021.  If getting away from it all by canoe floats your boat, please call Steve to discuss this or any other provision, he’ll be pleased to hear from you.

Canoe Expedition Assynt
ASSYNT CANOE TRIP

Steve first ran this trip over twenty years ago, charting a route through the wild and unspoilt landscape of the far north west of Scotland long before current providers had identified its potential. This five day self-sufficient trip takes you into a stunningly beautiful area; an experience enhanced by the absence of other people, roads, buildings and artificial light. It is suitable for those with some paddling experience as well as those new to canoeing who are paddling tandem with a competent partner. The actual route will depend on the conditions at the time, though the intention will be to include a day to relax or to ascend one of the fortress like Torridonian mountains arrayed around you. Call Steve to discuss the trip if you’re interested.

Cost £475 (does not include transport, accommodation, food or equipment)

HEBRIDEAN CANOE TRIP on HARRIS & LEWIS

Steve put on a new trip in 2021 to Harris and Lewis, an area little visited by canoeists; though with 15% of the UK’s surface freshwater, a myriad of freshwater lochs and long and protected sea lochs Steve is able to provide a fantastic Hebridean canoe journey.  This five day self-sufficient adventure journey will take you into remote and beautiful areas where you can experience precipitous mountains, extensive flow country and rich wildlife – whilst standing an excellent chance of having the whole place to yourself, free from artificial light and noise.  As with Steve’s other canoe trips this adventure is suitable for those with some paddling experience as well as those new to canoeing who are paddling tandem with a competent partner. The actual route and overnight camping points will depend on the conditions at the time, though the intention will be to include a day to relax or to walk in the mountains arrayed around you. Call Steve to discuss the trip if you’re interested.

Cost £475 (does not include transport, accommodation, food or equipment).  Anyone booking this trip and the Assynt canoe trip on the following week will receive a £100 discount off this trip.

“Hi Steve, Thank you so much for the trip. It’s really special to be able to see these last few remaining wild places – and isn’t Lewis wild! We were really well looked after and supported by you … and at no time did I feel worried, especially when we had to sit the storm out. It was almost free headspace time, and a mere inconvenience in the grand scheme of things. What an experience!”
